Gretsch 6120 Nashville Transparent Orange 1991
Gretsch 6120, made in Japan 1991, orange. When someone says 'Gretsch', this is the guitar that comes to mind for me. The 6120 Nashville was originally the signature model for 50s country overlord Chet Atkins, truly one of the finest guitar players of all time. In 1991, Chet was signed to Gibson, so the model had to drop his name. It's an awesome guitar in the hands: the body is super loud and responsive, the neck is very slim and super quick, and it has a certain cheeky liveliness that's a lot of fun. Plug it in for more good times: angular and snarly when you dig in hard, or gooey and sweet under a soft touch. The pickups have that certain top end snap that you don't get from a standard humbucker, it's very fun. The flame maple headstock, ebony board, big blocks and gold hardware complement the rude orange finish perfectly, it looks awesome. Now, where's your Chet tabs?
