Heartfield RR7, crimson transparent, made in Japan in 1990. Heartfield was collaboration between Fender USA and Fender Japan from 1989-93, targeting the metal and hard rock crowd that might have been disinclined to buy a Strat or a Tele. There was a few different versions of the RR model, which borrowed some styling from the Gibson Les Paul Junior mashed with some modern shred-friendly appointments. This one seems to be a fairly early example and appears to be closest in specs to the Japan-only RR7 model. It's got a bolt-on 25.5" scale neck, with a 12" radius, jumbo frets and an easy-access joint. The body is lightweight and super comfy, plus the hardware is really sturdy, so it's a blast to play and super easy to move around on. The single humbucker is paired with a volume control, bass boost/cut knob and a three way buffer switch that changes the EQ curve from darker to snappier and brighter. You can pull all manner of tones out of the thing, it's pretty wild for just one pickup. The 'crimson transparent' finish on this seems to be usually reserved for the RR59 model, and yet... here it is, looking gorgeous and complementing the tort guard and chrome hardware perfectly. This is a really fun guitar, it'll surely do great work on stage.
