History SZ-P2M, candy apple red, made in Japan 2003. History is a house brand for major Japanese music retailers Shimamura. They're made at the famous Fujigen Gakki factory, the folks behind Ibanez Prestige these days as well as Fender Japan from 1982-97. This is a great little medium scale P bass: it's got a slim comfy neck with a 32" scale and a slightly undersized body, and it weighs in at a blissful 3.5kg. It might be a little small, but it packs heaps of tonal punch: fast and full attack with a lovely rounded low end and a snappy treble. The finish has a cool pearl shimmer, and the matching headstock really makes it pop. If you're coming over to bass from guitar, this will feel super comfy and familiar, or if you're after a bass that's lightweight and super playable but still delivers the goods this will surely hit the spot.
