Hohner G2, black, made in Korea 1986. The eighties was a weird and wonderful time, not least in the guitar industry. Some brands were going 'back to basics', while others were pushing their luck with some pretty wild designs. Hohner, the German company who these days are best known for harmonics and accordions, licensed the innovative headless hardware and bridge design from the great minds at Steinberger, and produced a line of headless guitars and basses out of Korea. It looks decidedly quirky, but in the hands... it's annoyingly good, you can't write it off. The neck is very comfy, with easy access all the way up. The little stand on the bottom means it sits on your lab remarkably comfortably. The pickups are clear and full with plenty of detail. This example is the hardtail version, so the tuning stability is excellent. If you're looking for a full scale guitar that fits in your suitcase for travelling, or you just want to channel the glory days of MTV, this will do the thing.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The 'headstock' has minor scuffs on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has a dimples near the electronics cavity and widespread minor scuffs around the whole body. The sides have minor scuffs on both edges. The front has dimples around the knobs and elbow area and some play wear around the strings. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets minor wear but look pretty good, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing specialised double-ball ended strings by D'Addarrio.
