(ARCHIVE) Ibanez 7-String RG-Style Partscaster Natural 1999

- Guitarchives
RG-style partscaster, neck made in 1999, natural finish. This one is a bit mysterious, but pull up a chair and I'll tell you what I know. This one came in from a local gent, who got it from another local gent who did the putting together in the first place. The neck has an 'F99+' serial on it, so it's an early example of Ibanez's 7-String RG wizard neck. It's a very high quality item: 3-piece maple construction for stability, streaky Indian rosewood slab fretboard, great frets, super fast... nice stuff. I initially assumed the guitar was an RGD series, the more carved version of the RG, but those didn't come out until many years later; the body was a custom job. It's extremely tidy: great neck pocket, all the routing for pickups and hardware is bang-on, and the grain on show is tight and consistent. The pickups have the Bareknuckle logo on the plates, but the models aren't specified. The licensed Floyd is in good shape, the thing is playing really nicely. The sound on offer is pretty convincing: warm and full, snappy highs, plenty of growl on the mids, balanced cleans and expansive dirty tones. This is so much guitar for the cash it's silly, and you've got full permission to mod it further to become the abomination of your dreams.
