Ibanez Prestige RGR5221, traffic cone orange, made in Japan 2021. I remember the first time I played a Prestige RG: I'd never really understood the superstrat style thing until that moment, the thing felt so fast and free in my hands. This is an excellent shredstick: it's extremely well made and has a few handy details to make life extra enjoyable. First, it has *that* neck: slim in depth, flat on the back, super stable owning to the five piece construction, jumbo stainless frets, glow in the dark side dots, lightning fast... ask for more, I dare you. Pair that with a resonant, fairly lightweight African mahogany body and a very practical hardtail bridge, and it really feels like the hard work is done for you, it's just so easy to play. The pickups are hefty passive bruisers by UK chonklords Bare Knuckle, so they have all the fun things: hot, fat lows, screamy highs, fast and articulate attack, surprising warmth and balance. The coil tap opens up a whole stack of more Strat-like clean tones too, so you're looking covered for most giggos. Now, that finish: it's as lurid, obnoxious and nasty as you could possibly dream of. This one is for one of you fine folk who understands that playing a shred guitar should be fun, sound massive and be just a wee bit hilarious. RG=realgood.
