José Ramírez 2N-CWE Nylon String, made in Madrid 2008. This is a proper nylon string, made in the homeland of the guitar, Spain. Ramírez guitars are world renowned for their excellent quality and tone; the family business dates back as far as 1882 and is still helmed by a fifth generation of the same family. Ramírez players include famed Spanish classical virtuosos Andrés Segovia, notorious innovator Egberto Gismonti, as well as contemporary music legends including George Harrison, Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins. The 2N-CWE was initially designed by Jose III and then-endorsee Marcel Dadi, delivering richness in tone and effortless playability. The design was further tweaked by Jose III's daughter Amalia Ramírez, lightening the weight and bringing a 'fuller' tone to the already brilliant design. The result is a guitar that offers excellent performance across classical and flamenco styles, but also offers a brilliant balance of delicacy and fullness to genres like jazz and folk. If you're only ever going to buy one nylon string, and you want it to do everything, this one will surely deliver. José would be proud!
