K.Yairi R1RB Parlour Acoustic Sunburst 2004
K.Yairi R1RB, dark cherry sunburst finish, made in Japan 2004. This is a good looker, well and truly. Kazuo Yairi began making guitars under his own name in the mid 1960s, and was famous for an uncompromising commitment to time-honoured hand craftsmanship and an obsession with tone woods. This little stunner is over twenty years old, but almost looks brand new. It's a similar shape to Gibson's LG series guitars, with round shoulders and a comfy parlour size, so it sits really nicely on your lap. The colourful rosette and warm burst finish make for a cute look, it's certainly got a charm to it. The sound is dry and balanced, with excellent balance across all strings, fast musical bass and a complex earthy midrange. It's great for fingerstyle playing especially, the details all come through so clearly. Very nice!
