K Yairi RF-K7-OVA Parlour Acoustic Sunburst 2012
K.Yairi RF-K7-OVA, sunburst, made in Japan 2012. Kazuo Yairi began making guitars in the 1960s in a small workshop in the mountain town of Gifu. The operation is still small today, employing a dedicated team handcrafting guitars the old-fashioned way, as well as drying and milling their own tonewoods on site. This little beauty is a round-shoulder parlour style, similar in size and shape to a Gibson LG or Martin 00. It's got a tightly grained solid spruce top, paired with a back and sides of African rosewood variant ovangkol, which is cool. The tone on offer is dry, balanced and clear, with a fast and tuneful bass, airy complex mids, amazing balance across all the strings and a sweet, nuanced top end. The volume and low end is very impressive for a smaller body guitar. The neck is carved to a soft V, which paired with the lightweight body and comfy dimensions, make for a perfect couch companion. Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a dent on the end and some scuffs on the back near the neck join. The is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and some rub wear on the back only. The back has minor dimples on the shoulders and elbow area and some rub wear along the bottom edge. The sides have minor rub wear on the elbow area and bottom corner. The front has minor scuffs around the bridge, back edge and elbow area and some paly wear on the guard and shoulders.
Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is reasonably low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Wearing fresh 11/52 Moonshiners phosphor bronze strings.
Fret life: 8/10, minor wear only
