Kawai GT662 classical guitar, made in Japan mid-1960s, natural finish. We always post a front-on photo as the first shot of a guitar, but in this case, it really was tempting to show the back first. The back and sides are a gorgeous flame maple, and while it's hard to 100% verify, I think the guitar is all solid. It's a very beautiful item, the grain on show is amazing. The spruce top is no slouch either, with six decades of yellowing and mellowing it's a gorgeous warm yellow hue with tight parallel grain lines. The neck is a chunky D-shape, typical of the genre, and carved from another piece of lovely vintage maple; it feels great in the hands. The tone on offer is snappy, bright and rich, with a pleasing understated natural bass and plenty of warmth and balance through the midrange. This is a really lovely vintage classical, it's in great order and is made from materials modern builders can only dream of.
