Ken Sommers 022 Parlour, natural finish, made in Australia 2022. Ken is an elusive Melbourne based builder, making a small handful of all-solid steel string acoustics from gorgeous Australian timber each year. He leaves his guitars unbranded: no headstock logo, no sound hole label... sometimes we need a bit of mystery in life, right? This one is a lovely oversize parlour shape, with a solid spruce top and a solid Australian rosewood back and sides. It's got a comfy rounded neck with a D style shape, and is slightly wider at the nut compared to most steel strings without being a full classical size. It's a very comfy guitar to sit with and play, it's certainly got a disarming charm about it. The tone is dry and warm, with a deceptively full bass response, airy midrange and a sweet, musical top end. There's a lot to enjoy here, and needless to say there's not many around... you could easily pay thrice this price and land an inferior guitar from the nation's big brands. Hell yeah Ken!
