This is simple but very effective, as per Mad Prof's MO. The boost control adds gain, the master control adds clean volume, and the treble control brightens up the top end and high mids. There's waaay more boost on tap than I can imagine ever needing, and it's gloriously quiet and agreeable to dial in. Kind perfect really.
