Martin D12X1AE 12-String Dreadnought Acoustic 2007
Martin X-Series 12-String, made in Mexico 2007. This is a nice thing. These entry level Martin guitars defy logic somewhat: they're made of a laminate material with a laminate neck and a synthetic ebony board; all of which are modern environmental and fiscal cost savers, and yet, somehow... this plays and sounds terrific. The laminate neck on this is super stable; the cross patterned grain adds a whole lot of strength and rigidity; super handy given the extra tension on the neck of the extra strings. The neck has been sanded down slightly too, getting rid of the slight ridges you sometimes get on these models; it feels smooth and slick. The tone is big: heaps of jangle and chime balanced by a rounded fat bass and even sustain. If you're after a tasty twelve without dropping fat stacks of cash, this one will surely fill that little hole in your heart just right.
Model: Martin D12X1AE
Made: 2007, Mexico (serial 1300258)
Finish: natural satin
Body: solid sitka spruce top, HPL back and sides
Neck: laminate neck, richlite board, 25.4" scale
Mods: pickup removed, neck lightly sanded to smooth satin finish
Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Neck and headstock are pretty clean, very minor dimples only. The back and sides have no major marks; the HPL doesn't mark easily so there's very light scuffs only. The front is also pretty clean, just light scuffing on the top side where your arm contacts the body and some play wear on both shoulders and the guard. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Frets are in great shape with minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Strings aren't brand new but have heaps of life in them.
