Maton EMJ747 Jumbo, made in Australia 2005, natural satin. Maton dominate the local acoustic market... they've done so well for so long that one can hardly wander into a bar anywhere in the country without seeing a chum with a Maton singing Wreckless and downing a pint of low-quality local larger. The dreadnoughts are very common, but the jumbo sized models, however, are pretty hard to find. It's an agreeable size: bigger in the booty than a dreadnought, but with a deeper curve to the shoulders, creating a slimmer 'waist' that makes it quite easy to get your arms around. The back is especially gorgeous, that bookmatched Queensland walnut is all sorts of awesome. Strumming a big chord, the sustain is immediately apparent: this has a gorgeous long, even voice with plenty of complexity and warmth. The longer sustain adds smoothness to rhythm parts, it's very satisfying. I've only seen a couple of Maton jumbos ever, so if you're tickled, don't hesitate too long.
