Maxon PT999 Phase Tone Pedal 1978
The MXR Phase 90 came out in 1974. Over the Pacific in Japan, Maxon were already producing some outstanding pedals under the Maxon and Ibanez brand names. This orange box of wobbly glory dates to around 1978, which is super early in the scheme of modulation pedals. It sounds awesome: warm, round, smooth... just right.
