(SOLD) Mystery Non-Reverse Firebird Style Bass Dakota Red 2016
Mystery custom made non-reverse Firebird style bass, recently made in Japan, dakota red. Sometimes I buy things and they're not exactly what I expect... this was advertised as a Teisco and looked like a short scale thing, but it turned out to be a pretty unique beast. It's nicely made, although some of the binding work gives it away as more likely to be a hobbiest project than a pro job. I'm not 100% certain of the woods used, the neck is maple and the board is rosewood, but the body is a bit of a mystery. The two passive humbuckers crank out a thick, nasty tone with plenty of grind and low end; it really does sound good. The oddball shape is complemented nicely by the finish; it's a vibrant hotdog red. All in all: this is a handy little bass and a cool 'left field' option. We named it 'The Dagwood Bass' for you... you're welcome.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock is pretty clean. The neck has a couple of minor dimples on the back but is clean and smooth in the hands. Sides have no major marks, just some scuffs around from the jack. The front is pretty clean, just some light play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look good, minor wear only, 9/10 for life left. Set up with fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
