OLP MM4, natural finish, made in China 2005. OLP stands for 'officially licensed product'; these were a contracted copy of the Musicman Stingray made in China in the mid 2000s. Later, Ernie Ball would go on to release the 'SUB' line of basses and guitars that replaced the OLP venture, but these earlier examples are made with more TLC and better materials than the new version. This has the classic ash/maple combo and sounds like a Stingray ought; it's a punchy and satisfying little bass. The neck is a highlight; it feels awesome in the hands. If you're disinclined to fork out $4k+ for a Stingray 4H, this little mate might just fill the hole in your heart perfectly.
