Rex Mascot 5w 1x8" Guitar Combo Amp
Rex Mascot practice amp, made in Melbourne around 1965. Rex amps were made by a division of Lamberti Bros, one of Australia's longest running importers and distributors of music goods. This one is super cute: the blue faceplate, fetching grill, tall enclosure and cool little details make this a good looking little thing. The sound is fantastic: it gets pretty dirty quickly, but you can just roll back your volume control on the guitar and it cleans up a treat. It's creamy and snarly through the mids with a pleasing balanced complexity. It compares very nicely to vintage Champ examples in terms of tone and feel. Grab a little slice of Australiana while it's still available.
