Saito Guitars S622CS Heritage, black gloss, made in Japan 2025. The model number here means six strings, twenty two frets, Classic Shape, Heritage finish. This is Saito's take on the 60s style Strat, but with their signature modern-Japan updates. The Heritage models sport a super thin gloss nitro finish all over the body and a satin nitro finish on the neck, which looks extremely classy. The body shape is very similar to a standard ST-style, but with Saito's updated rounded neck heel for easy comfy access to the upper frets. The Heritage series model also gets a cool three-ply tort guard, which ties the look of the piano black body together beautifully. The neck is carved from some top notch hard rock maple and Indian rosewood to a supremely agreeable modern C style shape, complete with rolled edges bound in rosewood, a sneaky 10-12" compound radius and frightfully precise fretwork. The pickups are wound in-house by a small handful of master craftsmen; they're called a Saytone Growl humbucker and Bore Up single coils. They're a slightly hot take on the classic Strat tone. The single coils are extremely articulate and responsive, with a gorgeous dry midrange, weighty low end attack and shimmering open highs that are prominent but never harsh, The bridge pickup is smooth and creamy and adds some singing sustain to the mix, it's a very convincing addition. If you've been eyeing off models like Suhr's Classic S or Tom Anderson's Icon Classic, this is a seriously satisfying alternative and absolutely not a compromise on quality... but, you get a fair bit of change, which never hurts. 

SAITO GUITARS aim is simple: to create 'Simple and Beautiful Tools'. Company founder Masaaki Saito opened a guitar repair shop in Tokyo in 1991, diligently bringing out the  best in customers' guitars for twenty years before turning his attention to product design. In 2011, Saito's SAYTONE Hand Wiring pickups were released, offering gorgeous vintage-inspired pickups wound totally by hand by master craftsmen. In 2015, they launched their solid body S series guitars. The design philosophy is all about functional beauty: stripping away everything that doesn't contribute to function and playability, in order to serve modern players pursuing an increasingly diverse mix of genres and applications. Masaaki calls it 'Beautility'.
