(SOLD) Squier Obey Propaganda Telecaster 2006
Squier Obey Series Propaganda Tele, made in Indo 2006. Back in the mid 2000s, Shepherd Fairey was everywhere. His 'Hope' portrait of Barack Obama was used ubiquitously in the 2008 USA election, but before that, the street-artist turned graphic designer had already managed to get his cheeky and unnerving 'Obey Giant' brand's graphics plastered just about everywhere, including on a limited series of guitars for Squier. The tattoo style graphics are cool, it's got an aesthetic that'll surely illicit some strong responses in either direction. The aged hardware is a cool touch too, it all works great but has that rusty look to it. The bridge humbucker cranks out plenty of grunt and loves a bit of gain, while the neck pickup is a Strat-style staggered-pole alnico single coil, so that offers some crisp, punchy hi-fi plonk. Needless to say these aren't that common these days, so if you're a Shepherd fan or just really enjoyed the emo era back in the day, this one is for you.
