Squier Vista Series Musicmaster bass, made 1997 in Taiwan, gloss black. These were made for one year only; they're a reissue of Fender's Musicmaster bass that was made 1971-81. It's basically a stripped down version of the also-short-scale Mustang bass. The body is light, the neck is slim, the short scale lends it a slinky feel... it's an absolute breeze to play! It's got a cool thick, thumpy tone that's intriguingly charismatic and effective. A previous owner did something strange: they removed the Squier logo from the headstock and sanded the finish down to the raw wood, obviously not realising how collectable this would become later... that means you can score this for a killer dollar. This is a really fun little addition, it's sure to win your heart!
Model: Squier Vista Series Musicmaster Bass
Made in: China, Yako plant Taiwan, 1997 (serial YN700558)
Finish: gloss black, 3-ply white guard
Body: poplar
Neck: maple with rosewood board, dot inlays, 30" scale
Mods: logo removed
Pickup: 'Vista Tone' single coil
Case: very basic gig bag
Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. As noted above, the Squier logo has been removed. The now-blank space seems to have been refinished and smoothed over, so it feels clean and tidy despite looking odd. Aside from that, there's some minot scuffing/scratching on the back in the 'buckle rash' zone, a few play scratches on and above the guard and a few little scratches between the bridge and the top edge. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have been played, but wear is minor, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 45/105s and playing with vigour!
This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
