Trace Elliot are famous for those black and green bass amps you saw everywhere back in the day. This is a hybrid style amp: valve pre-amp, solid state power act; similar to a Marshall Valvestate. The clean is big, thick and convincing; it's a great pedal platform and balances a bit of tube warmth with JC-style reactivity nicely. The drive channel has two separate gains, so you can have a couple of levels of angry feelings to switch between. It's a fairly aggressive distortion, akin to Peavey stuff from the same era but a little more nuanced. Heaps of amp for the cash, no doubt.
