Trick Pro1-V BigFoot Direct Drive Long Board Double Pedals
Trick Pro1-V BigFoot direct drive double pedals, made in USA. First up, these aren't for the faint hearted, but given perseverance, can elevate your playing and technique by miles. Direct drive pedals heavily reward excellent technique and punish you until you get it right. Once you find your groove with these, they practically play themselves.
Now, features... These are equipped with compression springs, unlike standard springs on pedals. They have a unique bounce to them and lean a bit more towards a forward throw, making sustained notes easier, and they can be adjusted easily with a quick turn on the topside knobs. One spring is loaded in each pedal and they can be switched to two single pedals in about 30 seconds. The hoop clamps are spring loaded levers, so changeovers are incredibly fast. 3 grub screws accessible from underneath on each pedal adjust the positions of these clamps to suit different hoop depths. The cams have measurements marked for easy settings recall. The original beaters are missing, so we've installed some spare Iron Cobra beaters with aluminium strike surfaces for extra attack. Lastly, the driveshaft has no latency whatsoever.
So, how do they feel? I love them. Once you get the hang of them, which admittedly takes some time, you'll fly. They feel heavy if you're out of sync, which acts as a catalyst for better technique. Everything about these pedals is done really well and the designs are faultless, plus, they're bomb proof. I've known touring drummers to transport these loose in their suitcases for years without issue. The 3 different cam/board height settings will give you 3 distinctly different feels with varying degrees of power and sensitivity. They are currently in the middle position with a fairly high spring tension. We'd recommend backing the springs off initially to get a feel for them in any setting before gradually adding spring tension back to taste, making sure that 140-170 BPM range feels easy. Further, these are best geared towards sustained playing, so focus on making your stops and starts clean.
These retail for $2.6k in Australia so here's your chance to level up for half that.
Also, the previous owner died, which makes these metal as hell.
