Fender Jazz Bass, Pro Feel Series with active circuitry, made in Japan 1987-88 in transparent red. This is one saucy J! The finish really shows off the pretty grain of the nice lightweight ash body, it's certainly a unique looker. The active pickups and handy bass and treble boost/cut controls are a really nice addition, they open up the tonal possibilities without being too much to get your head around. Tone-wise, think jazz-on-steroids: a little extra presence and low end, and a seriously throaty growl when you dig in. The upgraded FTC 4C bridge is great, it's more solid and easier to adjust than a standard J bridge. The build quality is immaculate and the neck is perfect, it plays very easily indeed. Fender did some weird and wonderful things in the 80s, this is one of the good ones. If you're looking for a versatile classic with a little bit of extra spicy sauce, this one is for you.

Cosmetic condition notes: Some noticeable wear and tear, nothing nasty. There's a sizeable chip, approx 1.5cm across, near the knobs. There's some buckle rash including one deeper scratch on the back. Third string peg is slightly bent. There's screw holes above and below one of the pickups, it must've had a cover attached at some point. Nothing major. Overall condition: fair to good.
Playing condition notes: Action is very low, neck is straight, intonation is good. All electrics tested and working properly. Set up with fresh 45/105s. Seriously quick and comfortable player with a tone that keeps on giving.
