(ARCHIVE) Yamaha GC-30 Grand Concert Classical Acoustic 1989
- Description
- Guitarchives
Yamaha GC-30 classical, made in Taiwan 1989. The Grand Concert series were some of Yamaha's highest end guitars. They were generally made by a single luthier from start to finish, who would then sign the interior label. This example was made and signed by Yang Ho-Shun, and the quality of workmanship is excellent. The top is made from solid white spruce, which grows further north than the more commonly used sitka trees and offers a beautiful consistent, straight grain pattern. The back and sides are solid Indian rosewood, and it's finished off with a gorgeous gloss rosewood bridge and ebony fretboard. It feels very responsive in the hands, with every little note singing with detail and eloquence. The high end is crisp and sweeet, while the lows are rounded and weighty; it has a terrific clarity to it. This is a beautiful vintage classical, it's a great example of the heights of quality Yamaha have managed to scale in decades past. Grand indeed.
