(SOLD) Yamaha LP500 Lord Player Red Sunburst 1984
Yamaha LP500 Lord Player, red sunburst, made in Japan 1984. The 'Lord Player' series was the short-lived mid 80s sequel to the also excellent and also kinda short-lived 'Studio Lord' series made from 1976-83. There was a couple of structural tweaks: a one piece neck, open book headstock, and a non-sandwich body are the most notable. As with all these proper vintage Yam guitars, this plays like a dream. It's resonant and integrous in the hands, with great natural resonance and a lively response to each note. There's a singing sweetness to the top end and an airy, dynamic quality to the midrange that lends chords and lead lines a tasty complexity. The cherry burst finish has mellowed a little over the years but remains pretty vibrant, it's a classic and appealing look. There's a lot to enjoy here, there's a good reason we love these vintage Yamaha beauties.
