Yamaha SA700 Super Axe, natural finish, made in Japan 1979. Here we have a great example of vintage Japanese majesty. These SA models are a twist on the classic Gibson ES-335; the dimensions are pretty similar although there's a few little Yamaha-specific eccentricities. The maple body is on full display under the sweet aged natural finish: it's a golden hued glory, especially appealing from the back where the contrasting dark red-brown mahogany neck adds some extra depth to the aesthetic. This sounds awesome: amazing clarity and definition balanced by a wide open midrange and heartwarming harmonic complexity. The neck is moderately chunky in profile and feels very sturdy; the top notch workmanship on offer is instantly apparent in the hands. These never hang around long and are surely a worthy investment; join the coolest club around and welcome a vintage Yamaha into your home and caress.

The neck is pretty clean and smooth in the hands, but there's some scuffs and marks on the back. The back has some light scuffs and surface scratches around the body but no major marks. The sides have a few dimples extending around the whole body, no major chips etc though. The front is pretty tidy, just some dimples on both horns, the shoulder and near the knobs, as well as some play scratches on and around the guard. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have a little wear, they're in reasonable shape for their age, 7/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 11/49s.
