Yamaha Studio Lord SL700C Red Sunburst 1979
Yamaha SL700C Studio Lord, made in Japan 1979, Red Sunburst. We love the Studio Lord series around here, they're fantastic guitars. They were made from 1976-81 and came in a few different models. This example references the classic LP Custom, so it gets some snazzy specs: gold hardware, block inlays, ebony fretboard, witches hat knobs, seven-ply double binding... all the good stuff. The cherry finish looks beautiful paired with the extra binding and bling, and it's actually ridiculous how clean and tidy this one is for a forty seven year old guitar. The neck is slim and comfy, and at 4.7kg it's a little hefty, but could be a lot worse. The sound: oh boy, yes please. It's bright and airy for an LP, with a sweet chirpy top end complementing a wide and complex midrange and a piano-like bass. The pickups split via push/push tone controls, which is a cool bonus. This is an excellent guitar, it really punches well above it's weight in my books.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has dimples on the bass edge and some minor scuffs on the front around the posts. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has minor scuffs in the middle of the body and elbow area. The sides have scuffs in the elbow area and near the jack. The front has dimples in the elbow area, scuffs around the tailpiece and knobs and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 8/10, minor wear only
