Yamaha TRB-5 Blue Oil 1995
Yamaha TRB-5, blue oil finish, made in Japan 1995. Yamaha's TRB series has a cult following and a great reputation; they're regarded as some of the best five and six string models going around. This one dates to the mid-90s and has weathered the decades with dignity: played, not abused. The neck tapers from 47mm at the nut to a generous 80mm at the 24th fret, so there's plenty of room to play complex runs and chord stuff as you move up the neck. The sound is thick: beefy and immediate down low, a girthy growl through the mids and plenty of snap and sizzle on the top end. The EQ is pretty powerful too, you can dial all sorts of different textures and feels in easily. This is a great working fiver, it will surely perform with pizzazz.
