(SOLD) Fender American Vintage '62 Custom Telecaster Sunburst 2000
Fender AVRI '62 Custom Tele, sunburst with binding, made in USA 2000. The Custom Telecaster, of the 60s, is not to be confused with the Telecaster Custom of the 70s... this is the 60s style model, with a rosewood slab fret board, an alder body and some spiffy double binding to make us all swoon. It's a good look: the outline makes the sunburst pop, you get a good look at the classy piece of alder under the hood, and that streaky dark rosewood and spaghetti decal rounds it all out nicely. The neck is a slim sixties style vintage C shape, which is so easy to get along with; it just sits so nicely in the hands and never makes you work very hard. The body is pretty light and delivers plenty of natural resonance, so you know you're already on to something before you even plug it in. This one has a bit of a past: it's been routed for a humbucker in the neck slot, has worn a Bigsby that it since ditched and has plenty of play wear to show for the songs already sung. It all adds up beautifully plugged in: it sounds delicious. The neck pickup is fat and round, but still clear and pristine, while the bridge pickup is warm and wide with plenty of midrange presence and breath. The middle position rules: they balance nicely in terms of output and tone, it's positively brimming with gooey warmth and zingy eloquence. This one is priced to reflect the players-grade vibe on offer, but heck: it's a deal, and you won't want to put it down.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some dimples on the end, some mild hanger-burn on the sides around the nut, an extra hole on the front from a since removed string tree and some light scuffs around the logos. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, plenty of rub wear and a few dimples on the back only. The back has sticker marks along the top side and on the bottom horn. as well as widespread scuffs around the whole body, plus some dimples in the elbow area, back edge, around the ferrules and bottom horn. The sides have light scuffs around the whole body, as well as a small chip near the jack and some dimples down from the knobs. The front has four extra holes from a since-removed Bigsby tailpiece behind the bridge, as well as some dimples in the elbow area and around the controls, and some standard play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
Fret life: 7/10, minor wear only
